Cycling Gear & Outdoor Sports Equipment
Description
Cyclists are a particular breed — obsessive about specs, loyal to brands that get it, and completely unforgiving of anything that feels generic. VELODROP earned their respect on the road. We made sure the store earned it too.
The Challenge: Selling performance gear online means competing against both big-box sports retailers and hyper-specialized cycling brands — and VELODROP was getting lost between the two. Their store lacked the technical depth that serious cyclists demand and the visual punch needed to grab attention in a crowded market. The community they’d built around the brand was real and passionate, but nowhere on the site did that energy show up.
Our Approach: Performance first, community second — that was the page hierarchy. The hero hit hard with full-bleed action photography and zero clutter, putting the rider and the product in the same frame immediately. Best products were surfaced early with enough spec detail to satisfy the analytical buyer without overwhelming the casual browser. The FAQ section was built out properly — cyclists ask specific questions and expect specific answers. The community section brought in real rider content, turning the bottom of the homepage into social proof that actually meant something to the target audience.
Results & Impact: Helmet and accessories sales increased by 46% in the first two months post-launch, driven largely by improved product page engagement and the expanded spec content. The community section generated a 58% increase in social follows as visitors discovered the brand’s wider riding culture for the first time. VELODROP’s store stopped feeling like a shop and started feeling like a brand worth riding with.
